Skoda Auto India has introduced a new premium luxury sedan "Laura" in India on Tuesday Dec 13, 2005. Laura is introduced with a price tag of Rs. 16.81 lakh.

This model will give good competition to Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

Laura is based on A5 platform. Loaded with cutting-edge technologies, Laura has modern and dynamic design and yet it is classically elegent. Specially customised and extensively tested in Indian conditions, it performs exceptionally well to give results beyond imagination.

It has a direct injection system with Pumpe Duse Technology to achieve a compact lightweight engine with higher pressure for performance. This takes fuel efficiency to a new high and emissions, a new low. ANother unique feature is EOBD - European On-Board Diagnosis that constantly checks all component assemblies that influence the composition of the exhause emissions and prompts accordingly.

Laura has features like Automatic transmission with Tiptronic & DSG Technology (6 Speed) with 6 Airbags. Shipped with leather seats, climatronic dual-zone air conditioning, tyre pressure monitoring (TPM), electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory settings and electrically adjustable outside mirrors make it perfect luxury sedan.

Its beauty also lies in its strength. Because beauty is not just what you see, but also an experience. The redeveloped chasis along with the new axles and the new electro-mechanical multifunction steering achieves high degree of comfort and excellent handling characteristics. In the new avatar, the rear axle results in excellent directional stability of the vehicle, irrespective of the load and road conditions.

Laura has 1896 cc engine with with a max power output (kW{bhp}rev/min) of 77(105)4000. Max torque (Nm/rev/min) is 250/1900 with compression ration of 19.0:1. Laura can achieve 1-100 Km/h in 12.2 seconds with a top speed of 189 kms/h.
